Bugs on top of water

I have maybe 50 small jumping bugs on the surface of my tank. They are constantly jumping and look the color brown. The size of a sharp pencil tip

Almost certainly springtails... coming from a HOB. Harmless.

I'm with spiff. if you can't get a photo you can google image search aquatic springtails.

here's what mine looked like.
I had them for abvout 2.5 years until they just disappeared.

these bugs are causing my water to turn a brownish color

They are harmless. Do you have driftwood in your tank? I suspect that is what's turning your water brown
