Build a crayfish trap...?????

i used to just grab one of my fish nets and fish them out of my old stream. its simple and easy!

Better than try to explain how we do it down here. There's a link to a place you can buy crawfish nets and traps. Commercial crawfisherman use the traps while recreational crawfisherman use the nets.

They aren't bait or fish food down here. I think I'll go pick up about 10 lbs. for an early dinner. Woohoo.

I used to just use Minnow traps, they worked pretty good an are readily availible.

Minow traps work great. I used them for years when i was younger. I put opened up clams in them.

take a 2 liter bottle cut the top part off, and the very small opening, make it a little bigger. put in some gravel, duct tape the top of the bottle upside down, like a funnel, slightly angle the smaller opening in an upward direction, bait it with what ever you got*S* and plac eit in the creek, stream or what not. check daily*S* they get into the bottle and have a heck of a time getting back out. depenind on the size of the opening will determine how large the cray fish you get. i have made these and they do work surprisingly well. simplicity is the best design.

I used to do that all the time when i was alot younger, it works really really well.

I ordered one from Cabela's or even bass pro shop has them I believe, and it works fine here in Hawaii. The one that I purchased is the square fabrill minnow trap. It is nylon coated wire trap and does a great job in catching small fish (talapia, guppies, mollies, and crayfish) which I use for bait in one of the lakes here and I also use some of the bait that I catch to feed my fish as well.
