monoprice is best... i use them for everything

guy who said glare with plasma is an idiot your words are unexeptable!!! the glare is with led... a real plasma not cheapie with glass screen don't glare sucka....

my power bill is nothing bro... 80 bucks and i run a 140 and 75 gallon fish tank.... lol the new plasmas are energy approved... have fun....

op about bose.. they are garbage systems... fyi... you want denan or pioneer elite receiver with boston acustics or polk audio... but hey i have now idea what i'm talkin about because plasmas apparently have glare...lol maybe the cheap lg systems with plastic screens... compare apples with apples bro... top of line plasma with top of line led... led loses bad and actually the plasma would cost more.... :P must be why all the mansions have them installed here in newport....

you will need optical line for tv out to receiver and then hdmi for ps3 and dish thats it... don't run video through receiver in order for it to work properly you need like the 5 thousand dollar pioneer or denan...lol idk why they even have it for an option on low ends...

Idiot... no. And plently of other people, customers, and review online agree. Sorry mate but your on the wrong side in the glare issue. I like plasma but your a homer if you can not admit to the increased glare due to the glass screens.

Yes they are not as bad as they used to be but they are still more noticeable then LCD and LED.

LED has a bit of washout with the lower end models if in direct sunlight similar to what you would experience with a laptop screen.

Oh and the word is unacceptable....much like being a homer of a brand and touting it as the end all choice without being able to also state its downfalls.

You could be in a cheaper power area or just not use much but even though they are energy approved they still use considerablly more power then a LCD/LED. It is the technology and the componenets required to run them.

My power bill is 110 and I heat/cool a 3 story house and have a serious surround sound system running whenever my TV is on. Not to mention lighting, tanks, laundry, dishwasher, second tv, multiple computers, ect. Power consumption bills are due to where you are and the cost there and as such a direct comparison is not possible.

You act as if you know what your talking about then you pair a pioneer elite reciever with boston acoustics speakers. right......

Though I do agree that bose is not worth the money. For the same price of a Bose system you could have a mid level reciever with a fair set of Klipsch speakers.

As for the glare......find a review that backs you up man. Most mansions and such have them since the pioneer elite is still one of the most expensive tvs you can get. Just because the rich have somethign does not make it practical or correct to have.

I have a 55" Samsung plasma in my basement and like it but in my living room where I have lights and such I prefer my LCD. I also only watch hockey onmy LCD since the plasma can not produce the same levels of white and washed out white for the color of the ice is no go for me.

Cables it all depends on what you get. Most of the Dennon/Yamaha/Onyko HTIB now have HDMI passthrough. Just make sure before you buy. If you went that route you would need:

HDMI from PS3 to reciever
HDMI from reciever to TV
Choice of either HDMI/Component from cable/Sat box to reciever. You woudl only NEED HDMI if you went with Dish sat service as they are the only ones who offer 1080p at this time. Everyone else is still simply 720p and thus component woudl work for that.
Speaker wire (optional but upgrading is worthwhile in sound quality)

DirectTV is coming out to set up the connections for this TV and a new location upstairs. Will they bring any cables or do I need to provide them?

Normally the techs have cables and you can ask them for an HDMI as opposed to component. I prefer HDMI since it is a simple one plug cable that carries both video and sound. Just less hassle.

1 most people dont want to dish out the price for an elite and 2 find where I said plasmas are bad TVs? I told you to find me reference to where the glare is worse on a non plasma vs. a plasma.

Boston acoustics speakers are on the same level as onyko HTIB speakers. Their range is lacking and pairing low lever speakers like those with a reciever as great as one of the elite recievers is just dumb.

Apparently you need to come to my house to hear what real audio and investment in speakers can sound like. And I am FAR from a real audio phile and FAR FAR FAR from high end speakers. Running klipsch with amps.

So you keep trying to make a stand about glare but have yet to post somehting about a reference. Any and all AVS forums I am on as well as all review sites say the same thing. I have both and can confirm that my Samsung has glare which is why it is in my basement...I admit that if my LCD was in the basement side by side I woudl rather watch my plasma with the exception of hockey BUT I dont live in a cave and the lighting in my living room calls for less glare.

BACK ON TOPIC: The guy said he doesnt want a plasma anyway. If you want to continue this shoot me a PM and we can discuss there. Let this guy keep his thread on track.

My tv don't have glare the sun just makes the screen colours lighten and like I told him onkyo is fine but pls save the pioneer is dumb. just because u can't afford... both them and denon are best my buddy's shop has all top of line everything I have seen and heard them all... he will be happy with an led and htib but that blu ray and dish will look way better on the plasma.. not to mention any shows that. Only come in sd

Arguing is dumb... op just review and see up close for urself I got crap to do... good luck and post ur pics!!!
