The basking area I built for my old 300gallon setup. It was very cheap to make. It worked great but wasn't very pretty. ;)

This is my current setup in my DIY 1300gallon indoor pond. There is a large tunnel under there where turtles and fishes can hide. They love it.

Getting some stuff done tomorrow:

Spraypainting, slate rocking, and securing the basking dock.

Filling the tub about halfway up to start heating some water.

Putting the flourescents above the pond.

Buying my uva/uvb bulb.

And may start with the plumbing. Bulkheads wont be here until wednesday, but i could peobably start on the ponds return plumbing since im not using a bulkhead for it.

Some updated pics.

Got the return line from the pump back to the pond done. Mounted the lights in the correct spot. Took the plug out of the tub and cemented it and reinstalled it (i hate thread tape). Added bigger barriers to the outside of my bio tower because it was moving a little bit.

Didnt get to spraypaint the basking platform because it was too cold, and im not sure how to mount the basking light itself.

I bought the 100w zoomed uva/uvb bulb and a ceramic socket fixture. I dont know what im looking for exaaactly but the bulb feels a little weak. Just me?

Anyway, enjoy!

Thinking i might just lay a big piece of slate across two tall standing cinder blocks. Only problem is the blocks are so ugly. Any ideas for this platform? Not sure im digging the one i started. I think its going to look crappy.

I use a 160w Zoo Med UVA/UVB Mercury Vapor Lamp for my turtle pond.

Thats probably what ill end up doing. Especially because the water is going to be around 82 degrees, and the basement air temp is like 62 in the winter. Better to have more heat when theyre out of the water, yes?
