Hey everybody. Here is post #1 along with a question or two!

I got my 300 gallon rubbermaid stock tank for my future turtle pond, and got pretty lucky because it fits behind my 180, nice and close to the sump.

I built an 18" tall deck-like stand with plywood top, and got it positioned where i want it.

As far as the basking platform i need to make goes, i was wondering about making a horizontal cut in my old 60 gallon stock tank and attaching it inside the 300. So the cut part would be one of the rounded ends of the 60 with a flat bottom. Think that could work? Or do i need to explain that better? Haha

Anyway, here are some pics so far. My girlfriend and I are still debating what turtles we want. Its basically down to mississippi maps, razorback musks, or diamondback terrapins.

Thanks for stopping! This is going to be a good one ; ) stay tuned!

They're a little pricey but how about a mata mata?..They are a favorite of mine that I have yet to keep lol.

Good points...I think they'd be awesome to observe from above what with their triangle shaped head and all.

Haha yeah theyd be cool to look at for sure. Just going to start a little lighter and see if the turtle things for me. I have one badass habitat started though!

Put some sand in. Looks awesome in person. Tonight im taking the jigsaw to my old stock tank and driftwood and making one sweet diy basking platform. And im going to just lay some plants on the surface. I dont want them hanging in like that when i have the turtles. No escape artists please.

Thought about doing a basking platform out of this end of an old stock tank. Havent really found a good way to mount it though. Kind of stumped.

Any anybody know of any 3" diamondback terrapins being sold? Haha
