Kcameron, look up mangroves. They REQUIRE bare minimum brackish water. You keep saying to use them, but they won't live in freshwater.

I know mangroves live in saline environments--they can withstand freshwater growth for short periods of time (like they would in a wild swamp) but the majority of mangrove species will expire soon after as far as I know. But you can get faux or dead, ornamental root systems to give the same effect. Oh, and if you do get real-but-dead mangrove wood, make sure its flushed to get rid of excess salt. Mangroves usually excrete the excess salts from their roots when theyre alive but there can still be about 3-10% of the salts that they intake left over in there. I usually just use these or faux wood but there are freshwater australian mangal species, I think, they arent true mangroves but they have a similar bauplan. I dont know what theyre called though.

Sorry for not specifying--I reread my comments and saw they arent clear at all :-\

Is that a bala shark? Looks huge. If for any reason you ever need him gone, let me know (likewise, if my 3 big guys ever need to go, they'd surely be thrilled to end up there).

Looks great with the trim installed. You're going to be so bored now that it's done though...

oh yea, Reds can survive in an aquarium too, I think. I've heard of them being used and my old boss used to have a potted one in freshwater too, but I dont know which is better for them.

But anyway, we digress.

Congrats VL; a job well done. Enjoy. I am infinitely jealous.
