Building a 2,250 gallon pond

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Okay, I finally started digging. Here is a pic, it's really bad. I'll get some better ones tomorrow during the day and maybe then I'll be further along. Sorry, for some reason I have a hard time taking pictures in the middle of the night and it ends up with a lot of little spots like glitter all over the picture.

Did a little more digging today. Sorry, no new pics. I had to go to Lowe's to get a Pick Mattock because I ran into some hard spots about 6 inches down. With my limited time to dig between work and other things I have going on, I figure it will be a week or two before I can get the liner in. I'll be going to L.A. tomorrow so I doubt that I'll be able to do any digging. I'll keep you guys posted.

what are the dimensions? I was thinking about doing a 1,000 gallon pond. I now am thinking more haha.

It's going to be 10' x 10' x 3'. Did a little more digging today. I know it's going extremely slow, but I've been so busy and I can only dig a little bit every now and then. Being 100+ degrees here during the day doesn't help either. I'll get more pics up soon.

Okay...I know it's been forever since my last update. I still haven't finished it, but I'm finally in the last stages of digging. I just need to start shaping the edges. Tomorrow I am going to call around and see if I can get some old carpet to use as my barrier between the dirt and the liner. Hopefully I can get the liner installed tomorrow. You can barely see anything in the last pic so here are a couple more that I took yesterday.

I second the backhoe idea. It took me one day of diggings and I went a rented one. I rented a small one for $175 a day and save a couple weeks worth of digging.
