Building a 600 gallon acryllic

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I made some phone calls to a local acrylic / plastic distributor and was asking about pricing etc. Anyhow, we got to talking and when I told him it was for an aquarium he said it's really important to use "quality north American" brand acrylics, not the "cheap off-shore stuff".

I don't know enough about these things to know if he was giving good advice or just trying to make a bigger sale, but I thought I would pass it along... After all it would really suck to do everything right and still end up with 600 gallons of water in your home...
He is not filling you full of ****. Buy good quality north american cast acrylic. wednesday13 wednesday13 is the one guy to talk to that has a fair bit of experience with acrylic

That's good to know. I'm handy enough to want to build myself an acrylic tank, but cheap enough to try and save a few bucks whenever possible. So knowing this is an important consideration will certainly save me some heartache!

i built about 5 tanks, biggest being a 360. It held water for the 5-6 years I had it. saw it on craigslist in georgia, about a year ago, still held water. It's really not that hard to build.

i'll be building a 4x3x2 aquarium soon.

I remember seeing yours on the porch years ago and it was nice! My question is that will the method you used work on a larger aquarium safetly?

I don't see why not, you're technically bonding the aquarium together on a molecular level. I can't wait to see pictures and the process. If you're still in the area and need some advice or a hand, shoot me a message.
