I love the tank but would love to know more about the sump setup which looks very interesting.
It looks like tank inside a tank bio wet/dry set up I think!!
Pics please!

You are right. Its a 55 gal tank inside of a 125. I drilled two 60mm holes in one end of the 55 and then built the baffle and drip system.

I'll have to take some better pics of the sump. I've made a few more mods to it already. Added two 36 watt uv sterilizers, some sponge filter blocks and an auto water change system.

The sump isn't hard to get to at all. Both ends come off easily for changing filter blocks and routine maintenance. The front panels at some point will all be fastened onto the finished front so they all come off at once.

The insulation is really effective with keeping the heat in the tank and the sump. So far the only sources of heat for the tank are the pump, the uv sterilizers and one 250 watt heater. It took two days for the temps to go from 60 to 80 degrees. The temp is holding at 80 degrees now.

I'm working on the canopy now.

I'll post pics of the sump and canopy later.

thats an AWESOME tank i cant wait to see pics of it all set up with the rays in it!

Wow!!!! You guys going to build the stand too? What kind of rays you putting in there?

Great job. Going to suck to have to get to the sump though!

Yes, it is an awesome tank he made.
I guess it's too late for this suggestion, but I would've walled off the end of one side and made the sump there. I have an intank sump on my tank now. It is such a godsend. Easier to maintain, fewer things to go wrong.
I guess the downside is that it does detract a little bit from the overall looks.

Awesome tank though, OP. Wasn't trying to poo poo it.
