  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Hey zpetrichko, yea not too far :P, Yea im gonna put a drain in. Ive decided on Ames Blue max. I will be taking pics during the process and will put together a full start to finish thread. I personally hate waiting weeks for updates from people, lol. Im sure ilkl be on to ask some advice in the process. Thanks

Oh yea, I am also going with a 1300 gallon instead of 700. My stock will be N.A natives. Including my 12" in chain pickerel, LM bass,

Any ideas of how to frame and set the viewing windows?. I was thinking about using a router to cut channels in 2x4's , silicone the grooves and frame the glass , then cement and seal the entire frame directly into my tank, this way I can just blue max everything once complete. I was also thinking about using the glass from an old 55 gallon tank I have, but im not sure how that would hold up. It is an older tank so it has the thicker glass.

ive seen that video before, i'm thinking about putting one in for my mom in her basement. i don't know why the tank has a viewing glass but it looks pretty nice. i was thinking about doing mine 3x5x3 with cement and a liner.

hey mate

i live in australia, me and my old man do this sort of stuff for a living, we do custom pools and tanks.

the cheapest way is in bessa blocks(u call them cinder blocks), and as you were told, running the rio from the floor into the blocks is the simplest way but not the best. depending on how much u want to spend the best way is to do it out of formwork, form the base in concrete then the walls after with an inbuilt water seal just incase. the rio matt is tied from the floor and the matt runs threw the concrete walkls making it a stronger build and only having to make them no more than 100mm thick walls you save on coast, as far as the window goes you can use glass or acrylic with an incorperated rebate when the walls are formed. as far as water proofing use a 'plastic' based as they are non toxic and are what major aquariums use. good on ya for thinking bout it they look awesome man when they are done correctly. anywho just a little advice.

i forgot to mention if u want any advice or have any questions or if any one wants to know anything about building concrete tanks dont hesitate to ask, the best things about these forums is we all learn from one another.
