ok my pal wants to build a pond suitable told house 7rtcs plus other fish not sure on them atm. space in his garage floor is 8ft x 5ft. so he wants to do it that size and 6ft deep. i suggested breaze blocks so would be really strong. he also wants to put a window at fron too, think 4ft, here was one of my plans. first layers to have blocks flat, then five layers blocks the right way, using about 160 blocks, he thinking of doing blocks flat all way up, oh window to work out too. any ideas are welcome thanks

Seems a bit small for 7 RTCs, but the design looks good.

sorry only 3 rtcs biggest 2.5ft long going in this pond, eventually going to extent this pond at least another 6ft. front and side is going to have window 3ftx2ft but side window needs to be removable as this is going to be the join in the two ponds

thats the bit we are stuck on, how to remove side window

OK, u digging here for clues now ey marko lol. Heres the plan, i only have 4 rtc's to go in this pond a marble cat, 2xpacu, 2xrtcxtsn, bearing in mind the 2 rtcxtsn will not be going into the pond for a long time, or atleast untill the extension is built. We are trying to work out the dimensions to make the pond 8x5x6 inside and not just outside. The other 2 large tanks i have will be turned sideways to make room for the pond extension which will hopefully be 6x5x6 so all total the pond will 14x5x6 by the time we are finished and to me that should be more than enough room for 5 large monsters as the others wont grow as fast as the cats. 1 of the other large tanks 8x2x2 will house the baby asian rtc i just bought that leaves me with a 5x2x18" to play with for feeders. any comments good or bad are welcome as its all constructive in my mind ;)

sounds like an awesome plan. your going to have a hard time removing that window when the tanks full of water. the pressure is going to push it up against the side of the tank. its going to be very slippery. and once you get it part way up, the bottom of it wont have any support for the side of the tank so theres a chance that the water flowing from the one tank to the other will break the glass. my advice. fill both ponds side by side. once thats done, go inside the tank and cut away the caulk you used, and remove whats holding the glass in place. because there is water on both sides of the glass the pressure should be equal and once whatever is holding the glass in place has been removed the glass should simply fall. make sure youve got something to catch it, you dont want it hitting the bottom of the tank and breaking.

thanks but he wants to tile inside the ponds, and when glass removed does not want any bare block showing, ur plan has started my head thinking again

so when take glaas out u leaving frame

me still trying to work out how to get inside dimensions bigger, ur fridge bye bye for start

still working on moving the frame after window out dont want it screwed into place as it will leave holes and dont want to cement as me be fighting with fish to get into the hole hehe. so might just have the frame but not silicone window into it, but silicone window onto inside of pond (have the window made slightly bigger then the hole), it would only be for a short while anyway, as soon as the other tanks moved then the extension will be getting built asap ;)

Fridge going now m8, as for inside dimensions bigger it still not give much more to play with, there is a bench unit and sink there too lol, i cant move them any where.
