building a plywood tank? with a twist

the glass will be coming from a 240 cube 48x48x24 basically the front has chips the rear is drilled i will be using the mint side panels for the viewing panels on the ply tank 96x48x24or26 basically double current size btw the glass is 1/2" not 1/4" thx for all the input

Oh sorry man.. I thought you were using a 55g lol.. Like I said I was a little lost on that. I would say as long as the water pressure isn't to great on the glass it's a great idea and an awesome build it sounds
 
i hope its gonna be good i figure the total cost of a 500g tank will be less than $800 including $400 i paid for the cube used I am just ready to start but i need another week or two to begin waiting to pull 14 staples from an injury (non tank related lol)

Being the diff in pressure from the original tank to your build I don't think the 1/4" glass of a 55g will hold up... I may be completely off on what your post is based on. If so I'm sorry lol

I had the same concern for someone else who was attaching two 55s and a 29, end to end. I learned that Its the depth of the tank, not the number of gallons that increase the water pressure.

although the glass on a 75 is remarkably thicker than the glass on a 55...
