yeah, 50$ every 2 weeks, 4 weeks in a month, so 100.00 worth of salt...

Then actually it would be 108.33 because there are actually 4 1/3 weeks in the avg. month. lol

Either way the salt is expensive and even a 1000 dollar skimmer would be paid for quickly in a tank this large. Which btw is the amount you should be looking to spend including pump for a skimmer for this tank.

Do you have the ability to machine acrylic? Most folks that build their own skimmers do.

There are some pretty twisted builds out there though that look like they pull major gunk though.

GL either way...remember that AquaC EV skimmers dont come with the pump that you need to run them, so figure an extra $300 at least.
