when my cichla outgrow my current setup im planning to move em to a bigger tank.
IF my parents allow me to...
but the problem is finding the right sized tank around my area...:nilly:

it would be a 4x4x4 tank.no cabinet.
i will make a cabinet by its side.

i will very likely be using acrylic cause i think it'd be a better choice?
now,how would you guys go about this?
acrylic or glass?
how to bond the pieces together?
thickness?
im thinking the base piece will have all the others lying on it.
i will do up a diagram later.

thanks.

I'm relatively new to the hobby, but I've learned from people that Acrylic is better for BIG setups... 4x4x4 tank, with no cabinet, are you saying the tank is 4 feet high? That'll require a pretty thick sheet of Acrylic, and as the thickness goes up, so does the price. Is money no object for you? For bonding, acrylic bonds through the use of solvent that ensures a LONG life of no leaks. As for glass, same goes, as the thickness goes up, so will the price. Glass bonds through silicone seal.

The end panels are bonded within the front and back, then placed on top of the bottom panel.

Be sure to leave measures for the panel thickness... I would say about 1" for 4 feet high... Look up for corrections...

money is an issue.
but i'll find it somehow IF im allowed to build a tank.
i think maybe 2" thickness?
do i need to silicone the acrylic?
thanks for the info!

2" thickness is more than sufficient however no idea about the bonding and building. From what i understand acrylic is scratchable so gotta be careful during cleaning

Definitely glass. I would go with a plywood build to save $.
