Building an aquarium stand

i have a 125 in my livingroom on a DIY stand made up of 2x4's... you will be fine with the 2x4's. alot of the stands you see on here are way overbuilt, although i guess the extra insurance is a nice peice of mind.

MDF would be a virtual sponge to water. Not the best to use, if you were to use boards, plywood would be best. You could try to find a pair of 24" x 18" vanity cabinets and screw them together and add bracing if they were flimsy, but then again, we are back to particle board. I built mine from high quality furniture grade plywood. We are in GA and have a cabinet shop in gwinnett (DCD), but it's higher end and would cost you some $$ Atypical is in Winder and can build you something...

Atypical will charge me $150. I'm not willing to pay that much. I will pay $50 max.

Lol work in progress. I plan on getting some black curtains and just covering it all up.

If you go with just the 2x4 stand without any skin, it is highly recommended to add a couple of diagonal supports for shear strength.
You should be able to build one very cheeply.
I've also seen people use cinder blocks for that ultra-utilitarian look.

i take it this is a glass tank?. if acrylic you need to have plywood down for a flat surface.

I made one for my 75g out of 2x4's and it is workin great and ive had it for 3 years

Yes. It is glass.
