Hello...i was planning on building a 12'x8'x4' above ground pond with 2 viewing plexiglass in the front. But When I did a re-check on the available space in my backyard...i was only limited to a 9'x4'x4' above ground space. Some of my questions are what should I do to have a stable ground since where im going to put my pond its a sandy bottom...? Should i put concrete on top of the sand for dig like a foot in the sand and fill the whole 9'x4'x4' dimension with concrete then after its done curing and drying...i can actually start building the above ground pond. Also here in California,Daly City...we get kinda chilly during the day sometimes but mainly during night time...how should i help keep my pond heated as im going to add a couple of S.A's Fishes in their...? I was thinking about building like a wall around the pond like 2' from all the sides and a roof on top so no rain can fall in and stuff. Its like a lil shack. I was also thinking of this because im going to have a couple of electric outlets for my equipments to run and we occasionally get a rainny day out here every couple of weeks and I hate to have a single drop of rain get into an outlet. =/ This will also be a place to put my fish food, medications, filters, and im also gunna hang a large and long Light Fixture above the pond for light...but I Dont know where to find one...Do any of you guys know where I can find a cheap but large and durable light fixture strong enough to light to whole 9' pond? How should I heat the whole pond to like somewhere like 78* degree's...? I'll try to keep the whole shack insulated to keep in the warmth without the cold getting in. As for filtration I was thinking about building 2 bucket filters on both ends of the pond and buying a main pond filter made for 4,000 gallon's of pond water. Oh yea...is it possible to heat the pond with having a single 300 watt heater in each bucket filters to heat the pond or is that still gunna keep the pond below 78* degree's? Well im still thinking about some other questions that I may have on the process of building the pond...Hope you guys can help me in anyway possible =) Thanks in Advance;)

So you are going to build a pond outdoors but put it inside of a building?

well its gunna be outdoor but im just going to build a shelter above and around it to keep the warmth in and any pest to intrude with my fishes....like dang racoons and neighbor cats....

i guess its not really gunna be a outdoor being its has a shelter around it so you guys can call it and indoor pond

This being the case, you would be better off building the structure first. You may want to look into the prebuilt "Tuff Sheds" or other similar brands.

what about my other questions? like the ground im going to be building it on top of? Heating the pond with a single 300 watt heater in both bucket filters as the heater source or is it not enough? and lighting

sand with no rocks is a good bottom, just tamp it down level. what material is your pond gonna be

The shed will have a wood framed sub floor which you can have built with extra support for the weight of you tank. Lighting you can just go with affordable fluoresent shop lights. The hearing will need to be more then a couple 300 watt heaters, possibly need to go with a 40g water heater much like what is in your house, depending on outside are temp. Could also look into pool heaters or hot tub heaters. As for filtration, you need to research this while your building the rest of your pond.
