Building more acrylic tanks

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Lol, its amazingly clear :). Its so hard to get a pic of it. Not sure on the company, But I'm going to use them every time i build a tank. They throw in the peices left over for free :). a sheet is 8x4x4 so say you only use 4x2x2 they give you the other half for free, at the cost of only what you bought. I dont think We will be working on the tank tomorrow ( my dad has a golf thing going on )

this is the 70"x24"x18" ( or 16" i forget )

WHAT ARE THEY MAD???, everyone ordered the stuff either by dimention or sheet, what you use is what you use... i wish i was in florida so i could use them..., these are the guys i deal with... Warehoused Plastic Sales how are your prices compaired to thairs?, i realy dont know if im getting riped off...

Not sure, I'll let you know the price they charged us for all this. We ordered 2 tanks this time, and have enough to almost make 2 more tanks :).

Hah, Its a secret. I will tell you how much per sqft it is though, depending on thickness.

My dad had gold today, and dident want to work on it. And the acrylic cement 16 dident work, it just ran down the sides of the tank. so i cleaned it off and ordered some #14.

lol, i use #6 and 10..., buy yah, if you could let me know whow much you pay per sqft that would be cool.

my buddy was in daytona for the race last weekend, i could of got him to smuggle some back :D

When you use them, Is it like a glue or is it like aquarium silicone? I tried to run it against the side ( up and down ), and it just slid down and made a big glob.

ahh

We set it up, than run a coat of acrylic cement ( we use a squeeze tube, very small needle ), its like liquid, runs right under and dries within an hour. Than place acrylic cement #14 ( what we usually use, but ran out ) along the inside like silicone ( seals up and air holes that appeared during the time period it was drying ).

But I'll go out there tomorrow again, and run another layer of this acrylic cement, and see if i can make it work.

if you get air bubbles that might be a indication that your not appling enough pressure... the tank is comming apart while it dries. I know you meen Minuit air bubbles, try a scrap piece and clamp it hard while useing the #14.

it might also meen a imprperly prepaired edge, i buff it Befor glueing, you?

also just know that i hold your tank making skills high reguard and mean no dissrespect...
