Extremely impressed!
Quick questions: What is the turnover rate for all that water?
Are you using UV or ionization? Where in the thread is that described?
Can you estimate the total weight of the fish in this tank?
If people swam in the tank would there be any risk to people or fish due to possible pathogens in the water?
Everything is OK. I have been very busy in other hobbies. Not a lot new in this tank. No additions except finally deciding to put the young Wallago attu into it a few months ago. It was only 63cm long but threatening to break the glass top in the 680 lire tank it was in. It would not have done well in the 15k so I put it in this one.
I have not seen it since that day. I did see the largest Phractochephalus hemioliopterus trying to eat when it was introduced.
I hope its just hiding in on of the caves in the tank.
At present I do continuous 7/24 water changes of about 2,000 gallons a day in this tank.
I have used ionization in the past but not since 2010 around the time I switched to the bead filters. No UV on any of my tanks.
Have no idea as to the fishes total weight.
When people swim in the tank are normally eaten so fast that pathogens don't appear to have time to bother them.
By turnover rate I meant how often does your 50k volume get pumped through your filtration system?
Ok mate, well it's good to know your ok.
There's a Wallago Attu of around 10inches for sale in my LFS. Too aggressive for my set up I would imagine. I'm desperately after a small Dovii 4"-5". My LFS got a dozen 1", which is too small and very frustrating!
