Australia
Hello everyone, I'm Craig from Australia and am currently building a new tank on my back veranda.
It stands just over 2 meters high, 1 meter thick and 5 meters long. Mostly it's concrete with four large windows. The problem I'm getting is what glass size or type I should be using.
The glass doesn't go to the floor and doesn't go to the top. So the water above the bottom of the glass is only 4400 liters.
Please help me.

Post a few pix of what you have and I'm sure there will be many to come along and help you...

As you can sort of see it's really 4 meters long with a L shape making it 5 meters. It's 1 meter thick with 40% of that thickness taken up in the concrete. I'm really finding it hard to get good advice in Australia.

Very nice . More picturess please when you can .

Whats the Stock you are thinking of ?

Looking at the pics. The openings would be roughly 1000mm wide x 1200mm high, correct?
What is the depth from where the glass will be to the back wall?
Also, how much higher will the water be above the glass?

Your spot on with the largest of the glass pieces.
From glass to the back wall is 625 mm.
The water will stop 200 mm below the top of the glass. To allow native plant life to be included.

Use of a calculator may be helpful. http://www.theaquatools.com/building-your-aquarium
Going by its recommendations you will need 19mm with the water level at the 1m hight for the large panels. I would keep the safety factor at the 3.8, especially when it is outside. 15mm should work on the 400mm wide window.

When using a glass calculator for a single glass panel. Length is the width of the panel. Width is the depth(glass to back wall) and hieght is from the bottom of the unsupported glass to the waterline.Hope this helps some.
It looks like a great project and I look forward to updates.
