Hey everyone, just thought id share my latest build I did today. Took me about half an hour start to finish, and just needs a coat of spray paint and its 100% done. For the houseing I used a piece of deck sideing I got from my neighbour (like a plastic tube you put over the rails of your deck so you dont get slivers and what not). I lined the inside of the houseing with silver reflective tape then I bought 12' of blue LED rope lights. Next I drilled holes in the houseing for zip-ties to hold the rope light in place. The houseing I got from my neighbour was only 4' long so i coiled the rope light 3X inside the houseing.

So thats how I made it, and it only cost me $20. So what do you guys think?

This light cant be cut unfortunatly, its almost like a string of christmas lights. It does seem a bit bright to me also, but i believe thats just the effect it gives off from the white tips on the plant and the river rock substate. The rck in the background isnt too brite, so i think the white parts of the tank make it seem brighter than it actualy is.

You can cut it... the LEDs should be wired in parallel so if you cut off the end the rest will still light up.

Unless it has wires coming out of each side then you might have to strip it down and then cut it.

U need to tell everyone where u got the lights so people can followe suit cuz I will do this for my smaller tank
