Bulge in stomach

Have you tried 80% WC and epsom salt?

Have you had success treating for this using that method?

I tried something along those lines about a month ago. I could try again and be more regimented, but I didn’t notice any improvement.

I dont know how much epsom will help with true bloat but that is where i would start as well. You could also soak it into their pellets and or treat the tank. If you have a syringe you can soak into to the pellets quickly by depressing the handle and creating a vacuum

I did 60% wc and added epsom salt to the tank last night. I can’t change more water in one go because the gourami is too tall. He’d have to get on his side for that to work.

I fed this morning and I didn’t see her get any. Her tank mates are competive eaters so whatever causes this, I doubt it’s from over eating.

No noticeable change in the fish. I’ll try to keep this thread updated with progress or lack of.

I have an ornate that’s about 17 inches and over the summer she developed a large bulge in her stomach.

I looked through the forums and online and I have found lots of recommendations to do all sorts of things, but I couldn’t find a single post telling of a success story.

Has anyone had success treating something like this?

Definitely try the advice mentioned above. I know it is scary when your poly isn't acting normal. Here are some recent success stories from the past 2 years: These are the ones that I remember anyways.....good luck :) First one is from 2016, second link is from 2017/18.

Turns out I was a victim of what seems to be a common misconception. I thought epsom salt and aquarium salt were one and the same.

I found this at the store and it appears to be the right stuff. Anyone use this before:

Update on my fish: The fish has been in quarantine for a month now. I have not seen any improvement. I have been treating with epsom salt and changing the water every other day. She did poop once while in quarantine but has not taken any food.

I’m not sure if I should keep at it or try something else or give up....
