Bulkhead frustrations suggestions please

The point of putting the gasket on the bulkhead side is to prevent micro tears in the gasket when tightening the bulkhead. The friction can distort and damage the gasket. It should be on the inside to prevent this.

I had this exact same problem on my 240 on my initial setup. Went to Walmart and got a pipe wrench. Much longer wrench and easy to maneuver into that tight space to tighten. Found out that I wasn't as strong (hand tightening) as I thought. Problem solved, mind at ease.
