Yep, yep, yep. That sounds right to me. I tightened all of mine just hand tight when I installed because that's how some old man told me to do it. Only one of them leaked, and I turned it not even 1/4 turn and it stopped leaking. All by hand.
If they leak, it's not because they're not tight. It's because something's wrong with the gasket, or the face that touches the gasket isn't smooth, or it's installed wrong, or something. They don't have to be real tight to seal water.
