Bull head arent bad they are just considered a nuisance sense they dont gain the size of other catfish that anglers may be tartgeting and they do reproduce quite quickly. They are a catfish in every sense of the word and are commonly referred to as Yellow Catfish.

Your right.....bullheads arent bad in Nebraska, or here in Missouri, but in parts of Georgia and FLorida they compete with Snail and Spotted Bullheads (the natives to those areas) and in California and Colorado they outcompete several native species that are endangered.

Bullhead also play a big role as a prey item for northern pike, muskies, LMB, SMB, channel catfish, flathead catfish, and many others. In many parts of the country, bullheads are an underrated choice of bait in fishing for the above animals.

bull head catfish are bad for lakes ponds because they over populate the lakes and make them muddy waters.:babyblack:headbang2:cheers:.

Bullheads are actually a good fish in some lakes are a good food source and keep bottom pretty clean in most lakes

Since when bullheads make the lakes/ponds muddy water? The only one fish that is responsible for muddy waters would be common carp....which is often found in small lakes/ponds with overpopulation of bullheads.

they do over populate and turn the lake bottom over and make muddy conditions witch blocks out sun light and damages plant root systems. the combination causes lower oxygen levels and murky water. not to mention depleting the food sources for other fish. more less they get over populated. i just watched on the news the other day that the Minnesota DNR netted thousands of them from area lakes for management reasons.

if you really want exact reasons call the Minnesota DNR they will fill you in there cool like that.
