I am amazed at how well this little guy cleared my whole tank of the red slime cr@p!!!! The sand that is. This stuff was out of control and I got sick of dumping the chemical junk in my tank so I thought I would givehim a try. Also my tank at work got the same problem not long after my home tank started. I got one for that tank too (little biocube) and the same result. Pretty cool, just thought I would like to share. This may be common knowledge to some, but I never heard of it until a buddy told me about it. Also the little goby is pretty cool and suppose to be semi aggressive, but he seems as mellow as can be.

Ah man I dont have picsw of the little guy... I guess I could get one if you want. They are not really the type of fish one would brag about, but I guess I could et a pic if you really want.

the reason the slime is gone was the bullet goby sifts through your sand for micro-fauna stirring it up and most likely your filter pulled it out I bet your phosphates are most likely still high. get a few cerith's and they eat the slime so it never come's back as long as you use proper aquarium husbandry.

Here ya go... The Bullet Goby

Phosphates are all good. This has ben an on and off problem for the last 6 or longer. I posted a few threads awhile back. My lfs guy whom is a marine biologist and hardcore hobbiest could'nt understand why I kept having this problem (nor could I) I am very happy with the results from this guy. He sifts through the sand and from what I understand he eats it... I heard he eats almsot everything in the sand. Either way, it was over 2 weeks ago and not a spot of slime yet. I mean no where corners or nothing, which tells me he sifted every square cm.
I understand a little beyond the basics of redslime algae, and I've had a hardcore case of it for so long and tried so many different things to try and rid it. Howver my new little buddy fixed it I am happy!

pretty much all Amblygobius gobies will sift sand like this, except the rainsford's and hector's gobies...

valenciennea (sleeper) gobies as well...

i had a pair of yellowheads (V. strigata) in my 75 before the big die-off of '08
did a great job but kept covering up my gonipora and tongue corals

he will eat everything yes in the substrate which is good for him but will also eat the beneficial organism's as well but you probably rather have that then red slime lol.

I understand what you mean by "covering up"... lol this little guy moves a serious amount of sand. I thought my powerhead freaked out or something blowing everything around.
