Here's one you guys might like. About 8weeks ago my daughter and I were out fishing when she caught a 12inch bullhead catfish. It was tangled in another fishing line that was cutting into his skin and there were 3 fish hooks foul hooked into his sides. Brought him home and put him in a 75 gallon hospital tank, cut the lines off and got the fish hooks out. He's all healed up and fattened up so we are going to take him back to the wild this afternoon. That's my favorite part! Wish him luck!20180713_164534.jpg 20180709_203449.jpg 20180713_164530.jpg

How wonderful! Most people would have just eaten him. (Not me though)
I only eat fish if I can't even find tree bark to gnaw on. And I did it not so much coz I felt that bad for the fish but because of my daughter. It was a lesson in compassion, concervation, and giving back to the wild resourses we enjoy. There was alot of good things to learn from this fish

What a great thread to find! Very nice to see someone take care of a wild fish like that. Pretty fish too. I fish at a local jetty and always get amazed at the hooks and line tangles that people just leave in the rocks. Way to go.
We are always picking up behind other people. Let's be careful that i don't get triggered here. This fish isnt the first animal we've rescued from discarded gear. I don't mind if people fish and hunt but damn it do it responsibly! ...ok thats my PSA for the day lol

I like bullhead, so cool looking when you pull them outta water, lol that reminds me a month back I was at a cottage at RICE LAKE ONTARIO CANADA, on 4th day or so I decided I would take a snorkel, goggles, and a life jacket and just float beside the dock, I started at land where that water was about twice ankle deep, as i floated i say so many Gobys(Round Goby [Invasive]) but to my surprise i also say a Black Goby guarding from underneath a rock, it was fighting back all the other gobys, so I took the rock and flipped it over, THEN i saw about 100 eggs, I tried to put it back down the way it was before but idk... so I continued to float extremely slowly and calmly until I found 2 yellow bellies fighting over pieces of Crayfish** from one that fell off my hook when i was using it as a bait (Rusty Crays[INVASIVE]) crays where everywhere by the shoal (Just the day before i caught a Rusty Blue cray) **so i put my hand out and both the fishes scattered, i was about in 4'5" deep water near the end of out dock(What I did not know was my parents were putting corn in the water for 2 days) so i was looking at a rock at the bottom about 1ft high, when i looked directly in front of me.... THERE WAAS A 28in CARP SWIMMING WITH ME... i am almost 6ft, probably 5'11" but to me it looked about 5 feet long lol, so I watched it for abit cause i love fish, and when it left i put my head out and shouted to everyone (Never seen a live carp before) then i went under again and the carp was still swimming with me, I grabbed my fishing rod shoved corn on it and soon 4 fishing rods with corn hooks in the water, my bro got the first bite, but it cut real quick cause he had 8lb MONO LMAO, I was the only one who had 50lb BRAID, when it took I let it go for abit, then i hooked in and the fight began..... next thing you know we are cutting up 2 28in carp. The other my mom caught. I can send pics if you guys want... lol sorry for being so off topic.

In the end... surprisengly Canada is not as dead as I thought

Now that picture is beautiful, breathtaking if you will.

Can do more harm than good releasing anything uve held in captivity for a period of time... its illegal for a reason. 1 dead bullhead from some fishing gear or an entire fish population gone because of something u transferred back to that body of water. tough love sometimes... i commend ur efforts but this is not a good thing to be promoting or doing.
