Bullhead catfish caresheet?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
nah just like rounder in shape. Some are more elognated. Some are more curvy. Idk how to catch baby catfish int he summer. I think people tried telling me and I tried it but never had luck.

What about channel catfish care? Since apparently to my friend. The fish we catch keep being channel cats and not actually bullheads. What's the min on those? and how fast they grow?

If the tail is forked its most likely a channel. Bullhead have a round tail. Ive only had mine a few months. The bullheads i have are around 14 inches, very active, always rearanging the tank and splashing alot. Ive had the channel a little over a month. Was 9" when i got him now pushing a foot. So 3 inches in a little over a month, pretty fast growth i think. The channel is most active at dinner time....imagine that... All eat like its their last meal. I think if i put my old work boot in there the bull head would try to eat it.....
All my cats have been tank raised for a while.

Nah all bullheads get rounder in shape especially when they are adults and since the bullheads tend get fat in captivity.

Okay well today I decided to go catfishing and still with my extra 75g
(I have a few tanks given to me so yeah) well I caught a catfish and I THINK it's either a channel or a white catfish.

The catfish looks like that :

The tail is forked like that and when I see the channel catfish they're deeper forked. So I think it may actually just be a white catfish. Even so. What is the min. tank size a channel cat will be happy? I know they "can" grow up to 4ft. But I don't think all individuals do. I think it has to do with temps, availability of foods and other ranges. Though i'm confused since I caught it at a lake that's murky and extremely filthy. Thought channel cats were more sensitive to that?

^ your point is flawed about all individuals do not get up to 4ft in the wild, most channel catfish in capitivity get up to 24"-30" easily. Even white catfish often surpassed 18" easily. Channel catfish isn't that sensitive and weak fish which that is why they are important farm fish as they are highly adapted to any environments.

Noted: are you based on forked tail to ID a channel catfish and a white catfish? If so that is bad way to ID. You need to look at the whiskers to see if they are white or not and count the rays on anal fin.

Anyways, both channel and white catfish get larger than all bullheads in capitivity.

Like one of the white catfish and one of the channel catfish. And show in the pic where to look at the diff? Like put it in paint or something.

P.s. My catfish has white barbels on the front but black on the sides. Like the chin barbels be white.

The one I caught is indeed fat but the head ITSELF is actually quite wider than the rest of the body a bit.
