Bully in the bowl

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I added 2 more female mollies, and this little stinker is still picking on everyone. So, there are 4 mollies in a 10 gallon aquarium.

My friend who gave me the tank and stuff told me the one fish was a danio, but I was sure it was a white cloud. I haven't seen either type fish in some years, so I went to the store today and found out the little guy is a white cloud.

Can white cloud fish be in with a goldfish? I have a goldfish and don't know if it is better to put him in with the goldfish or leave him in with the danios. Getting him tank mates is simply not an option right now. There isn't enough room, and I can only upgrade one tank at a time. The first to be upgraded will have to be the molly tank.

My advice is you really should upgrade the tank. The tank is getting overstocked at this point.

You cannot mix it with the goldfish. There is the chance the goldfish will gobble it up.

Adding plant clumpings, even artificial ones to break up lines of sight and give cover to duck behind can reduce stress and aggression, the white cloud can be kept with goldfish unless the size difference is very great, 5"+ goldfish can sometimes catch and eat small fish like whiteclouds.

I have just the 4 mollies in a 10 gallon with lots of plants for them to hide in. I even have a background plant and he was still being a holly terror. We decided to name him Bubba. He got so agressive this morning and my husband noticed. He wasn't happy. Went out to the pet store, bought a divider for the tank and put him "in the corner" to see if that doesn't stop him. He plans on leaving him there for a few days to see if he calms down. Since he can still see the females, he tries to bite as they pass, but he has calmed down a little bit. Let's hope Bubba becomes a good boy. I don't know what to do with him if he doesn't. I don't think he would be happy in a 2 gallon all by himself.
