Bumblebee catfish

I had some bumblebee catfish previously. I saw them more often when there was more than 1. At times they would be out chasing each other. Never got aggressive, but fun to watch.

I know its only been a day, but I think that the feeding tip is going to work. I've been putting his food further and further away from his log and each time he seems less stressed/hurried to find it. It will probably just be another game of patience lol

Also leaving the light on more often may help too.

Yes I have recently redone my tank, and had hiding place for my bumblebee cat now not so much but was wondering if this will be stressful for him if he doesnt have a place to hide, does anyone know wether this is a problem for him or not ?

This is simply the question that seems to be tied to cats the most. The simple answer is it's a toss up really. They are all different. However, one way to solve this is less hidding spots. The more you provide the less you will see them. So for example instead of a driftwood that they can hide under you should use a rock. Dont' create holes for it to go under and hid. Place the rock in there flat if possible. That way the cat will go behind instead of under it it won't really have a place to hide. It'll be more active and swim about more. It worked for me. Also leaving the light on more often may help too. In my bigger tank of cats I provide no hiding spots no drift wood or rock they are way more active.

IMO, it's a gamble. It may or may not be worse when one does not see their fish to monitor its condition. The best is to make him observable in his hidey hole, like having glass be one of the walls, or maybe use loose decoration/plants...

I would make sure the Catfish has a hiding spot/cave in nature they will hide under leaf litter, sticks, roots etc. My thing is to make a see to see hiding spot for him. this was the catfish feels safe but you can still view almost anytime. Here is my asian bumblebee cat in his not-so-hiding-hiding-spot!

Mine are a killer cleanup crew in my growout. I have 2 in my growout and they are pigs. never any leftover pellets or frozen food in the morning from what the polys and others missed

Awesome to hear. I have one now, but i saw two in a petsmart yesterday, thinking I might go back there n grab them... they were tiny, not showing any color I felt bad for em

I've never had them but I imagine they are gluttons as other SA bumblebee cats and feed vigorously and are unfussy in general. I'd expect them to pick up any leftovers.
