My mom is only 44years old. Thursday she complained of severe dizziness and blacked out. We took her to the E.R. The docs ran many tests and after at first thinking she was a druggie (she is far from it BTW, very clean and well kept so I have no idea where they got that idea from! ) they decided it was stress and sent her home with a medicine to help with the dizziness.

Fast foward to today. She visited her primary care physician and he sent her back to the hospital for observation. She had another severe dizzy spell and the tests (I think MRI) concluded it was a stroke.

Her father had a very bad stroke that left his left side paralyzed at 49. She cant walk with out assistance now, but I think she is lucky as it could have been far worse. Hopefully in the coming weeks with physical therapy she will be fine.

I'd appreciate it if you guys sent out an extra prayer for her tonight.

Wow, I'm sorry to hear that man. I'll be thinking of her and the rest of you guys.

If you need anything give me a call.

Sorry to hear that. Thoughts go out to you and your family.

Thanks guys.

I think everything will be ok. She can talk and think and all just fine, its just when she walks it is as if she has had way too much to drink. Hopefully we can get a full recovery...

My grandfather (moms dad) had a major stroke at 49, his wife (moms mom) died of cancer at 46, mom at 44 has minor stroke, and grandmother's (dad's mom) sister had one at 46. I really think it's time for me quit smoking. Unfortunately with all I have going on right now, a cigarette really would hit the spot...

The hardest thing about quitting smoking is getting over how hard people say it is. Just stop. If you have something right in front of you to wake you up and realize that it's time to quit....well that just helps more. It's a ***** for a week, then you'll get occasional cravings. The cravings only last 5 minutes, so remind yourself of that and do a water change. With that history it wouldn't be fair to your family to continue. Warn them that you're going to be an ass for a few days and just stop. I have a full pack at work that I keep in my desk as a reminder.

The biggest key to quitting is wanting to quit. If you don't want to, you wont quit.
If you need help, I can get a packet from work that will make you look at a few things differently and make it easier (at least it did for me)

Weird you mentioned the water changes, Levi, as I just started a one cause I was trying to do something to get my mind off of things instead of smoking!

I have been smoking since I was 16. I quit from New Years '06 to November of that year. It was actually really easy. To me the hardest part was not smoking while I was driving, cause as soon as I get into my car I light up....

Liz smokes too. We are going to have to work together, but I think we can break it. During that time when I wasnt smoking I felt so much better and was actually disgusted when I saw other people smoking. I dont even know how/why I started back.

The only upside is that Liz is letting me order an armatus from RW!

Sorry to hear about the situation. Stop smoking, or I'll come down to KY and kick YOUR ass! And I can't afford a half a grand worth of gas right now, and you can't afford to smoke, what with the child and all. Do us all a favor and give that **** up for gambling or porn.

I folded and smoked one. I have decided that this is my last pack (I bought it this morning). I WILL STOP Im down to 15 and Im going to ease out of it by smoking just three a day for the next five days. Sunday will be my last day and I am planning on spending it at the Newport Aquarium so at least I will be in a relaxing place!

Sadly wurm gambling and porn are already a hobby of mine so you and any one else are going to have to give me more ideas!
