potency no. i dont know about amount or number of deaths caused. i know the most dangerous potency is the small scaled tiapan. the most dangerous amount per bite is the russels viper. and the most bites is either the saw scaled viper or the puff adder. also the most dangerous american is the green mojave rattler potency and the easter diamond back amount per bite as well as most bites. hope this helps.

^not really, they just have the reputation. i am studying venom and venomous animals, to try and get into a college class on venomology when i am 17. so far i have found that the snakes with the reputations are actually not the most venomous, they just are the highly aggresive species. and the high potency and amount are very low lying snakes that few people know about. just my observation though;)

yes and no, on the toxicology. venomology is a nickname for the study and profesion of milking snakes, lizards, jellyfish, amphibians, and other venomous or posoinous animals for their toxins for the production of antivenom and other pharmesudical(i think i spelled that wrong) products, and medicines. i live 7.5 hours from one of the biggest areas for snake, spider, and scorpion bites and stings. so the proffesion is not too outrageous for me. :)

I will go with the old herpetology saying, "the most dangerous snake is the one that just bit you." Bushmaster, Russell's, Saw-scale, cobra, krait, or taipan are able to be considered potentially deadly and which is worst is like arguing which one can make you "deader." The measurement of venom toxicity is usually measured with an LD-50, but these are essentially a rule of thumb and not reliable once you figure in the individual variation that can occur in the bitten and biter.
