Well I'm not one to normaly intro myself in this way, but , ah, what the hell!

SO anyway.. I'm gona be real dry to start off with..

I currently have a 65 gallon tank, with its second batch of fish since Feb '05. I had a horrible algae bloom that woudnt go away no matter what I tried, due to a high phosphate content in my water, anyway luckily for me, there's a few very knowledgable guys not to ofar away that I bought the tank from, They mentioned the fact that I can use an external UV sterilzer, which has worked WONDERS, no I dont have solid green water, its clear all the time (that doesn't mean I'm neglecting my water quailty)... so moving along, I currently have a 4" (approx.) oscar (named Gertrude), two smaller JD's, two green terrors of roughly the same size, 2 pleco of about 5 ", a 3" orange thingie *haha* , and a 4" pictus catfish...

I seem to be the only one I've seen thus far to have large-ish substrate, roughly 1/2" - 3/4" pebbel substrate and a few faux plants....

My fish happen to LOVE OmegaOne cichlid flake food, more so than any other, almost to include live food... but anyway, thts me and my "friends" in a nutshell

oh, and just to add, my orange thingy is a remnant of the first batch of fish, he/she was so tiny at first, but has better than tripled in size since Feb

I'd post the pic of when he/she was first in the tank, but I can't figure that out just yet... so... that will be in the future

Welcome to MFK :welcome:

Have you tried feeding your larger cichlids pellets? 4 inches should be able to
take in pellets with no problems.

redtail well yeah I did, and that was seemingly the cause of the initial algae bloom, because of the phosphate content, that and the fish dont like it NEAR as much as they do the Omega One flakes.... however, if I can find the equivalent quality in pellets, i may give it a shot

Just make sure you feed quality pellets ( hikari, omega ,NFS etc) and feed sparingly... dont overfeed and you shouldnt have algae bloom because overabundance of phospates.

redtail thanks, I appreciate the input, I wasnt aware Omega made pellets, but I'l order em up shortly... and yeah, i have learned the phosphate lesson wel enough

and by the way, thanks everyone for the warm welcome! :hearts:
