hi all

i plan to get one of these could you please give me any info on them please. also do they like a current of not?

Thanks
Matt

They mostly remain on the surface... They mainly eat live fish or worms... Not sure how hard it is to get them on pellets.. A friend of mine has some of them... not sure how hard it is to keep them... Im planning on getting a few myself...

Be sure you have a secure tank lid. They can jump out very easily! They get picked on alot I always say because they look like a grasshopper..lol but If you get one try and keep him with bottom fish or midlevel swimmers.

I have one in with my rocket gars and he readily takes pellets, also found him on the aquarium lid a couple of times.

Try to give it a still surface, or if you have a current, get some floating plants or other decor to the top so he can sit against it.

They prefer calm water with many clumps of surface or near surface plants and open water corridors. Elodea, grown long enough that he upper ends sway in bunches on the surface, or clumps of riccia are great. They like to rest on the plants and breed there. Small live crickets are a great treat for them

i got nime to eat freeze dried krill a few times.

For the feeding, make sure that the food stays at the top for a while for them to reach it. Mine barley goes after anything that has sank 1/2" or more below the surface. Most flakes will float for a while, but when putting frozen blood worms, or brine shrimp which my little guy readily eats, put it in the tank in pieces, so not all of it sinks down in one clump.
