i just wanna ask if this cichlid would work with my bichirs. coz my tank seems to look empty without a middle to top dweller, and i saw this fish in my LFS and i love how it looks.

Tilapia buttikoferi? they're supposed to be pretty aggressive so I'd be wary but I've never kept them and can't verify that. Hope someone else can tell you more

THIS ONE?

I wouldn't risk it, I would do something, little more laid back like a severum. My current poly tank consists of A big needle fish, Some Big Electric dempseys, Rotkeil Severum, Syno Angelicus they all are doing really great together.

I have 3 big electric dempseys in with my polys, they ignore each other, I also am feeding massivore because when you feed live I think they nip fish more but that is just what I personally think. Severums make great tankmates too, they are pretty chill and take up the middle tank making it look like you have fish. lol I had climbing perch and african leaf fish for a long time and tried to do a biotopic tank, but I wanted more color and ebjd was a perfect match, I raised them up in a 55 and now they are in with my polys all are 4-6in, I prob have a photo thread on them you could check out. I also have plants in too anubias on driftwood is great becuase it is hardy and bichirs love it.
I'll find it and post a link of my tank for ya peewee. A butti that size would be ok, but they get really big and pretty mean, and although they look cool now the yellow stripes kind of fade and they don't look as nice when they grow up.

I guess I don't have a thread of just my bichir tank, I just did updates, but here is a thread of climbing perch, polys, and ebjd. Along with a few others I have, but I sold the tank the severum is in to set up a saltwater, so he got to join the poly crew.
