Buttikoferi Growth Rate

I was just wondering what a buttis growth rate its? There's not too much information about them online unless I just overlooked it. Mine is only about 2" right now and is w/ all the stuff in my sig. I was just wondering if he might possibly keep up w/ the growth rate of the others even closely?
 
It will grow faster than anything in the tank except the Pbass, midas and FH (IME)..and will grow around the same as those 3 IF your water parameters are kept near perfect and the diet is high in protein. Id feed it and the others market shrimp every other day, starting with the small ones and eventually, as they get bigger, moving to large (if you want to put size on them as quick as possible).

The pbass will be moving probably within the next couple weeks. I mainly want it to keep up w/ the midas and FHs b/c probably the other bullys of the tank. They're already eating little pieces of shrimp and they love it. Thanks man.
 
i dunno how fsat they grow but i've put mine in my CA/SA community tank and it is KING of the tank. it's around 3.5" and bullies my dovii, festae, umbee, texas, cubans and salvini. and of course my convicts but they all just fight back lol
 
buttis (if you mean Tilapia buttikoferi) are from West Africa.
The ones I've had in the past would stress a P bass to death, if not outright kill it.
I ended up eating them (the buttis), after they killed a number of much larger fish.
 
Must be small, and maybe the midas can keep it in check. Mine became lethal at around 8"-10", first the largest killed the other buttis, then started on other species.
Ask Red Tiger on AT about his, and a large dovii.
 
AT is aquatic-terrors.com, Red Tiger (who lurks there) has quite the tale about his (if I remember right) butti, dovii, and something else tank.
Be careful what you wish for.
