So why do they call them Controversial Tigers? Are they just oddballs of another type that are tough to identify?

Yes, controversial tiger referres to a datnoid that can't easly be identified between an Indo or Wide bar.

Well I went back to Asian Tropical Fish and bought one of their Dats. They were $35 this time instead of $40, plus they looked happier, good color. The guy said it was a Thailand Dat (NTT?), but it looks just like my IT.

After the long trip home in Friday rush hour Atlanta traffic, he had gone unstable . I put him in the tank and was surprised how much bigger he was my other Dat. I thought that might be trouble. Not the case, it was the Firemouths that didn't like him very much. He is a bit bigger than they are.

After watching the FM's chase him around for a bit and forced him to hide in a pot, I decided to move them in the 240 with the Arowana and Polypterus.

I wish them luck...one of the Jewel cichlids has made it a few weeks. They should ask some advice.

Now my Dats have my 52 to grow out in. The only other fish in there are a yellow pleco and a leopard bushfish that also will move to the 240 when big enough.

It's a shot in the dark, my 1st dat was rustic brown in color. Thought it was just because it was stressed at the lfs but was wrong. The Indo would brighten up but only to lighter shade of the brown. Guess some Indos are like that.
