I say go for it. If they are willing to take them back once they get too big for your tank, what's the problem? But then again, what if they don't remember selling them to you and agreeing to take them back 5 years from now???

If you don't think they will remember, ask them to write it down and give it to you...

on that note what happens when the fish market plummets and they go out of business???

You'll just have to get a bigger tank ;)

never buy a fish you cant house for life
tank first fish later
that's been my philosophy for several years now and the reason why i started this poll
This is one of my pet peev's. (I think I finaly used that saying right). People just think they can buy something as a baby and return it once its bigger.
and one of mine, these guys are just soo insanely awesome looking. i've never seen cats quite like them, why the hell hasn't somebody bred a dwarf variety yet?
I believe he's saying that they are offering to take the fish back, and he is fully aware of how big the fish gets...
i am fully aware of how big they get and they are a fish i don't feel should be availible in the hobby except with a permit or at least should be much harder to get a hold of, i refuse to order them(i was running the aquatics department at the local deathco) becuase i know there isn't anybody who can house them, even though i could easily sell half a dozen in a week. i talked to one of the clerks and they do take fish back, they took in a 16" black pacu just a few days before i got there.
Just gives you a reason to get a bigger tank!!!lol
i wish, unfortunately like i said, not going to happen for a long time. i'm a college student living at home, once i own my own house yea i'll probably set up a very large tank or two. i'm envisioning a shed out behind the house with a 24'x10'x6' tank/indoor pond and perhaps another one 16'x8'x4' reef/SW mangrove tank, basically by sinking steel T bars into the concrete slab spaced 8' and 4' apart, expoxing the floor and using 8' & 4' x4' x2" sheets of acrylic. i think it could be done and i think there'd be a couple of IR sharks in the tank but that'd be many, many years from now. right now there's no way i could build a tank big enough to house IR sharks for life, the tank would be half the size of my room and paroon sharks would be even worse. however i know that in my 180g i would treat them right and by the time i brought them back they'd be big enough to prevent every noob with a "huge" 55g tank from trying to keep them.

Same here (and yes Z, you used the saying right:D).

I can't tell you how many large fish (especailly catfish) and reptiles I took in when I was working at my lps...and it is very frustrating. I voted no, but I don't think you're an idiot because I'm sure a lot of people ask that question.
