PALM COAST FL
well I was in the process of breeding angelfish.. I have 12 20 highs, and 1 55 long. for now... I have another vat for water with small containers to put the eggs in.. well I was looking for a heater and I run everything on a sump system, so I figured get a nice one titanium probe with the outside controller.. well I purchased one from a store in my state, I won't say who, they are ok.. well not even two weeks later all my fish are dead... over 2 years of collecting fish of certain types, paying big dollars for them. getting them from overseas, the cost and even some of the hard to do culling of these fish, are all dead.. the heater failed.. I called the company I got it from, and they are going to send me a new one that's fine, will I use it, probably not, can't trust it... I bought the heater and the controller for 75 bucks.. it should've been top of the line, I could've bought a bunch of small heaters and have a messy looking set up. but that's not what I wanted...

so I called the manufacture of the heater wrote to them what happened, and they basically told me NO warranty, and the warranty only applies to the heater itself.. which i know, but do you want me to go threw 2 years of hard work and in 2 weeks it's all gone.. because of your heater.. I think they should have sent me a bunch of free stuff, with an apology and maybe i might have a better piece of mind about this company.. Oh ya, the name of the manufacture is

finnex.net...

please don't buy nothing from this company... you make something you should stand behind your product. if you can't then get out of the business..

I told this company that I spent the last 2 years working on a new breed of angelfish, and that dream is now gone.. now I'm going to spend the next 2years putting this company to rest...

and when the new heater comes in, it goes right into the garbage. I wouldn't sell it to someone, in fear that they would have this happen to them.... so people [Please do not buy nothing from this company, no matter how good the deal sounds....

a very mad and pi$$ed off person

wat kind of angels are they if you dont mind me asking

I was trying to work with a solid orange, or almost red... I had lines of angels that I got from good breeders that went out of the hobby.. some of these fish cost me a bunch of money,, and some I culled because I didn't like something about them, shape or finage... but what I was really working on a solid red angel.. I was in search for a certain wild angel to help with this process.. I don't know if what I was going to do was going to work, but it was worth the try, now I'll never know what would have happened...

that sux dude im sorry

that sucks man. I halfway feel your pain. Once had a heater stay on and fry most of my fish. But I had nowhere near as much invested as you had. Did it stay on or off?

Sorry for your loss, I will definitely forego buying from that company based on their response.

When you get up and running again you should get a thermometer that has a hi/low alarm so if the temp goes out of range a buzzer goes off.

Not to be an "ass", I am truly sorry to hear of your loss. Thermometers are cheap, our fish's health rely on a narrow temperature range. You feed daily so why not check the temp. daily? It only takes a couple of seconds to read the themometer.

Also would be a good idea, when so much invested, to have a secondary heating source and that goes for the filtering too.
