I am considering buying some fish online, which I have never done before. I have heard that this may not be a good idea. Does anyone have any advice? Do you know of any reputable online stores? I am looking for Malawi cichilds.

Thanks!

here in oz i do it all the time
just got another order of peacocks yesterday
never any problems
maybe if your not sure just try a cheap small order to see how it goes

ive bought from cichlidstation.com fast shipping and good prices. i got my TT eel from them but they have alot of others.

I like tropical fish distributors. They have a ton of different at very good prices.

After buying online the last 2 times I've purchased fish I'd never buy anywhere else.
I bought from Blue Grass Aquatics. He sent me great fish and his malawis are GORGEOUS. He had cheap shipping when you buy $100 worth and when he sent me some fish that were smaller then what he advertised he sent me an additional one of EVERY fish. Not just the ones that were smaller. AMAZING service.
Also I purchased some fish from Rapps. I don't know what his africans look like but he has some rare fish that look amazing. Id recommend either one of these vendors.

Rapps has some amazing fish. If he had what I wanted, I'd go with him first.

Blue Grass Aquatics also has nice cichlids.

I've heard great things about LiveAquaria, but I have never personally dealt with them.

I've had good experiences with Aquabid, particularly a seller named "Lotsoffish." I've gotten everything from rare cichlids to very nice crystal red shrimp. Only problem with him is that he only gets in certain fish at certain times. Can't really order anything special from him. All shipping is free from him. One time he shipped 4 boxes of fish and there were a couple of losses, but he sent out another box (free of charge) with a couple of extras thrown in as well. All in all had a ton of great experiences with him.

I've ordered from Blue grass and Live fish direct. Blue grass had some beautiful fish, but it took a while between ordering and shipping. Also their shipping was pretty expensive. It cost almost as much as the fish and I ordered $60 worth of fish.

Live fish direct were very nice to work with. You could set the date to receive the fish when you ordered and they have a guarantee on their fish for 14 days after you get them. The fish were nice looking. Some species looked better than others but they were great for a display tank. Also their shipping is really cheap.

If you want some AWESOME fish and don't mine paying more then I suggest Dave's rare fish http://www.davesfish.com/ I haven't ordered from them yet but I know people that have and the fish are STUNNING.

Ive been very happy with purchases from reservestockcichlids.com and atlantis(cichlids.net)
Aquabid is full of great sellers, many hobbyists just moving out fry from fish they have.Like myself lol

I have ordered from Bluegrass Aquatics many times in the past-esp. when i had malawi's. eddies fish are really healthy and beautiful.. but like someone else said, be prepared to pay for overnight shipping...

all in all i would keep ordering from him-just save up the money first!
