Buying Larger Fish vs Smaller

I can't disagree with anything that has been said so far. I remember getting my batch of very small clown loach and 6 years later growing them out to.......well......still very small clown loach, lol. Damn clown loach growth rate.

I don't remember it really ever being an option. If I buy from a fish shop they're only ever in the 20-50mm range. Occasionally I've seen more full grown fish for sale secondhand(Hehe, private sales) but they're almost always poor condition. Being sold because someone wasn't taking care of the tank properly.

I agree true full grown is hard to find. Usually only about half way there for the largest fish sold.

Realize I posted this in the wrong thread but it 100% works for buying fish. I said the exact thing when I chose to get a piranha named Thanos (which I did not have a designated tank for).
