Buying tanks new from LFS

Anyone else hate buying tanks new from the LFS?

I can't stand paying $115 for a 55 gallon, but it's been 6 months since I started looking for a used one and no dice. So I might just have to bite the bullet. Guess I'll have to pay the $35 for the glass tops too.

The only used tanks around the UP seem to be overpriced 10 to 29 gallons. I figured with it yard sale season I'd score a good deal. Nope.

Sometimes living up here in the boonies really sucks!

it took me 5 months to find a 125gal for $50.00, but i found it. give it time. and let every one you talk to know that you collect fishes. some one is always getting rid of tanks.

I feel ya. I'd hang in there. Something will come up. Put a wanted ad in your local papers. Ya never know.

Yeah I mean I got my 75 for 75 with glass tops from a guy at work that was using it with his salt tank he had to get rid of. So just let ppl know that your looking and you never know who is going to say hey I know thing guy who has a tank he wants to get rid of.

I hae had alot of ppl help me with this but all they tell me is it was a big tank. And the bad part about that is big to them is small to me lol

115 for a 55g heck they get that much for a 30g around here.

The LFS here just had a benefit sale for the local PD's K9 department. They were selling tanks up to 75g for $1/gal and over 75g, up to 220g for $2/gal.

So good deals are out there.

look into posting on freecycle.org I posted last week looking for tanks 10 gallon in size and up. I got a free 125 gallon from posting on that site. Look for a group near you.

i hate to break this to u but if u want a tank right the way then spend some money and get a new one at the store call around and check for the best price ...wait for the used tank with the good price on craiglist or what ever is hard even u found on always some one else is already ahead of u and take it....new tank got insurance .....gott spend some to make some.sorry but im not the one that hate to buy new tank from LFS...

ive never bought a new tank at the LFS... its kinda like buying a car, I let someone else swallow the initial depreciation

be patient and diligent.. as soon as you buy a tank at the LFS you will find the same tank on craigslist for half the price
