Buying Used Tanks?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Yeah you should worry about the leaks first thing, maybe you could ask the seller to fill it up a little to see if there is any leaks. Then just rinse in out and a little scrubbing.

yup. exactly, all the tanks I own except for two are used tanks and I love them they are small, huge, long, tall and octagon like and they are all awesome used tanks =) and they are sometmes maybe 20x cheaper. Just check them out and you good to go!

I've bought a lot of used tanks in the past. Yeah, some leaked, but a glass tank is easy to reseal. A little bleach or white vinagar cleans the tank up pretty good. Just rinse it out really well, and let it sit for a few days, and it's ready to go. If you're still worried about bleach residue after a few days, "Prime"or other tap water conditioners should get rid of it.

I just set up a used 65G saltwater last night...the price...nada! I got the drilled tank, stand(needs to be sanded) pumps, protein skimmer, heaters, all the plumbing, sand, a Coralife 65 watt flo/actinic light(had to replace one of the plugs) and a couple hundred in fish all for nothing. All I had to do was help take it down and stuff it in my truck.
