Amazingly, the fight was NOT as strong as some of the other fish! We were fishing in an area where we had seen some big fish break but when this one hit, it was NOT the biggest/hardest strike compared to others. Didn't really realize the size until he rolled on the surface and then it was like WOAH THERE.......that a GRANDE!! Once I noticed that he was THAT big, I played him a bit more gingerly so as not to risk losing him.

There were many other smaller fish that hit harder and fought harder, namely of the "paca" variety which had ALL spots or had spots plus darker 3-bar color like these:
