To OP, your parents sound like they are being unreasonable. If they are going to smash your stuff then I suggest going without until you get your own place. I know that seems ages away but believe me it will come soon enough. You are nearly an adult under UK law. As such once you hit 16 they cannot break your stuff any more as it goes from just being a bad parent to criminal damage and threatening behaviour.

try keeping under your stand if you must have it and if there suspicious run a random hose or 2 between tanks so it looks like a sump
Um yeah, don't hide stuff from your parents, it'll always come back to haunt you... lost a bag of...um...herbs... that way!
I agree with the 'make it a sump' idea, out in the open and all you have to do is run a couple non-functioning tubes to it...If your parents really have no interest in your hobby, they won't know what it really is...
Also, being a veterinary doctor takes more training than a normal doctor, do you research and look up the years... 8=human Dr, 12-14= animal Dr. You have to know more species anatomy than JUST a humans!
Smashing tanks is stupid, I don't care WHO you are or what your feeling is... take and sell them not destroy them...Sound like the cash for clunkers program...run the motors with out oil and dump sand in the trannies...Lets destory ALL of it so that people can't make better cars out of their ailing ones!

glad everything worked out but next time be honest... I hid things a lot when I was younger and only got caught very few times but oooooh was in hugeeeeeeee trouble the times they did find out. Finally I realized my dad really doesnt care and likes my odd things and agreed to my bearded dragon and fish and frog.... all which my mom didnt know about for a good 3+months, but I did make sure to get premission from one of the two household owning parents. I got lucky though my parents actually really liked my pets (suprising enough my mom even fed my reptile!). I got more things that I wanted by being honest then I did by hiding things (including them letting me have more tanks and now even have their own tank).
