CA Cichlid tank (new project)

Here's a few choice photos from tonight. First a couple of update pics of the Vieja regani. The largest fish is around 6"TL the smallest 4". I believe i may have 2 male and 3 female. This batch of regani have been quite slow growers, not sure what generation they are. The F0 argentea i have was also a slow grower but patience paid off with that fish, hopefully it will with this batch of fish. Perhaps i need to be more patient.

i'm getting regani too, but i am getting the 'gold back' from conkel. i'll be sure to let you guys know what they look like.
i wish i had space to do a biotope tank like that.

any luck with the wild swordtails? those are hard to come by. i am definitely going to model your tank whenever i get my own place. we have a pretty similar taste in fish

Thanks, these regani were from Conkel, be sure to post photos when you get yours. I managed to get some green swordtails, however these aren't wild stock, hard to source and to expensive.

Not at the moment. Apparantly T. pasionis aren't sexualy active until around the 2year mark, unlike other Thorichthys members.

Nice tank that argentea looks great you said you have a shoal of swordtails how many are they and how many male to females.

I have a shoal of 13 swordtails, only 2 are male. I can't believe how aggressive male swords are, especially in the confines of the tank. I think it's recommended to have 1 male to 4 females, i still get a bit of aggression with my ratio.
