CA/SA Cichlids in a 10 or 20 Gallon Aquarium?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
personally I wouldn't go with anything other than a pair of rams or appistos for life in a 20 gallon or maybe a pair of keyholes.

I wouldn't do anything larger than a pair of rams, apistos, or checkerboards in a 20H. A 20 Long I would do a slightly larger pair, like curviceps or Pelvicachromis taeniatus, or Cryptoheros nanoluteus.

Keyholes get the same size as most of the crytoheros group. Maybe it's just me, but I've had zero issues keeping the small CA's in 20g tanks as pairs. Personally I couldn't imagine how empty a 20g would look with a pair of apisto's in it.

Deffinately under 6", prefferably under 3".

id say a breeding pair of cutteri in a 25 gallon would be nice..

Just get ram cichlids... You can get more than 2, just hope they don't pair up.
Get 3 or 4 rams plus some other colorful fish. Just cichlids you would have a very empty looking tank.

I would say, 2 or 3 ram cichlids (either same sex or 2 males 1 female, to prevent breeding), dwarf gourami, 4 or 5 tetra or 2 or 3 tiger barbs.

I would get the twenty long ... that extra 6" of length makes a huge differances in cichlids.
