CA/SA Cichlids with teeth in the front

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I have never seen the teeth on my O's or my JD's... now I feel like I'm missing out :(

Yes, Oscars have teeth in the back according to some MFK members because you can hear them crunch Hikari pellets. I didn't believe it until I heard it myself. Just turn off all the electrical noise in the room, get really close to your oscar, and feed him Hikari pellets.

most cichlids have teeth on their jaws even if you can't see them underneath their thick lips they have "teeth in the front" and i believe all cichlids have pharyngeal jaws the "teeth in the back"

ive notice that it depends if u feed ur fish live food or pellets. because as natural adaptaion if u feed them live food than they get the teeth to hold onto their prey. but if u just feed pellets they stay worn down

that what i also belived isnt that and a nostral and eye on each side of the fish and being freshwater makes a cichlid a cichlior sicklid cause they rule

Pardon? My common wealth chum ;) Most fish have eyes on the sides of their head, not all cichlids have notrils on the side, and not all cichlids live in fresh water ;) The deciding characteristic of the Cichlid family is that the intestines kink to the left (rather then the right, as is common in the rest of the members of the order of Perciformes)

btw your Display pic is nice Craig. Severum.
Thanks very much bunty. That was a few years ago, hes past his best now, but has mellowed with ago so he can have tank mates. Still a Grumpy old man ;)

In a bit
Craig
