So CAl.
Am planning on getting a new tank and already have an idea on what i want to stock it with but not sure on how big of a tank it should be and if the stocklist will work.
Stocking:
2 Amphilophus lyonsi (males)
1 Astatheros Robertsoni(maybe 2)
1 Chuco Godmanni
4 Cryptoheros Cutteri
1 Herichthys Bocourti(maybe)
1 Herichthys Pearsei
1 Vieja Zonatus
1 Vieja Bifasciatus
4 Thorichthys Elliotti
Any input will help thanks.

:iagree: Eventually your gonna need a 300G+ minimum to house those species as adults. Most of the fish in my signiature are housed in a 96x36x30" LxWxH. My tank is at full capacity and will need thinning at some point within the next 6 months.

Robertsoni are notorious for not liking their own kind/mate. Better off as singles

Or a pair

I would get rid of the Zonatus and Bifasciatus. I would replace them with rhytisma. A 8' 240 g might be enough for a long time if you remove the Zonatus and Bifasciatus.

hey gani why did you red flag the zonatus and bifa. u think their aggression would be a problem in the big tank? i currently have some of these fish already in my 110 (2 lyonsi, 1 robertsoni, 1 pearsei, 1 zonatus, 1 bifa) waiting for big tank. The zonatus is the prick and am thinking am only going to stick with one lyonsi. My other dilemma is if i should go with a glass or acrylic tank glass is some much cheaper but so heavy!! hopefully i can find a used acrylic. wow the rhytisma look nice hows the aggression on them? would it be okay two house two species of Astatheros in the same tank? will two fx5 be enough to filter 240 or 300 with this many fish?

Both get big, aggressive and territorial. Both are capable of inflicting major injuries to your other fishes too.

If you could find help, get a glass tank. Like what you said, it's a lot cheaper than acrylic.

Rhytisma in a small tank is very shy and hides a lot. In a big community tank, it was outgoing and was not a trouble maker.

A wet dry + an FX5 would be a great combination for a 240 g tank.

These are all just based on my personal experience.
