CABELAS NATIVE TANK

i too have been to the cabelas in dundee... for a non-zoo/public aquarium exhibit is one of the most awesome!! they also have paddelfish in one tank... are some crazy, "prehistoric" looking fishies!!! is well worth the drive ifn ya live here in mchigan!!

btw, it has been several years since i was to the great lakes crossing mall, i do not remember the bass pro shop having aquariums there... am going to have to get back there to check it out!!
 
I visited the cabelas in Dundee, MI and the Bass Pro Shops in Great Lakes Crossing several times before moving to NC. both are VERY cool aquariums though Cabela's is a bit bigger. It is big enough so that they can get up on top and cast across it during fishing expos sothe audience can get an underwater view of how the lure behaves and the fish react to it. :thumbsup:
 
i actually just went to the cabelas warehouse in PA.... anyone notice the abundance on hole in the head in alot of their fish? i thought that was kind of interesting. and what is up with those round looking tumors on the bottom of most of their trouts mouths? other than that, the setups were sick, ill def bring a digi cam next time. they had a largemouth bass that was an EASY 12+ lbs.... sick
 
they just built one by my house in the twin cities. the tanks were great looking but some of the fish didnt seem to be the healthiest. it looked like they were all harvested from the wild which isnt always a problem but one of the northern pike had claw marks from a large bird, all the bass had sores on thier lip which i think is from bumping into the glass. it just opened two weeks ago so maybe its just off to a ruff start. nice tanks questionable fish???
 
the cabelas by me in kansas city kansas has a few blue cats over 60 lbs with one a little over 80 along with a few 40-50plus lb flats......many sturgeon and gar as well as all the bass, crappie, bluegill. out of all the cabelas ive been to i would have to say the tanks in kansas city ks are the best.

yea there is an endangered(i think) saltwater species that is overharvested for its caviar. but there are tons of the freshwater species in the rivers by me. i believe the largest freshwater species can get almost 10 feet long and live over 100 years but the biggest ive ever caught was about 4 feet. every one ive ever caught has been off earthworms.
 
yeah, they're cool to see, we have one that just opened up in Rogers, MN. Will get pics next time we go. The fish didn't look so good in there, they were beat up and sick looking but i'm sure they'll get better.
