okay, That I can understand more. I still Don't get how they can eat mice though, aren't their teeth strictly molars?

Ever seen what big crushers do to Mice? Makes one royal mess, but it gets the job done none the less.

And how did we go from Caimen Lizards to Dogs eating McDonalds? Don't believe everything you read.......Use actual physical experience, it works a whole lot better..........

My comment was to show how people think another type of animal that can eat anything you put in front of it, so it's ok. I probably should have used the iguana as a very good example...they will eat anything, and live for awhile, so it must be healthy right? Well we have learned thats not the case...there has to be somebody that has done the research on the caimans eating habits. Milokai does feed his snails and a supplment, forget what it is right now.

From everything I can read(which includes science papers) IMO opinion it might take awhile to nail down the 'correct' and 'proper' diet for these guys. They have been seen eating snails, but other than that...there are 3k fish species in the amazon, gazillions of insect types...

just make sure you ask who ever you are buying it from what they are fedding. just because they are CB doesnt mean they will eat what you want them to do. and if you do get one i think you should make the effort to give it a natural diet if you can. i know some people will say you dont have to but think about the well being of the animal first.

Milokai feeds snails and i forgot what his other staple was. i think he gets them from an asian market.

Thanks for the info guys, I don't know if their legal at reptile expos. If they are that is where they will be CB and low price....$500 if lucky. THey must eat a lot of apple snails in one day especially when they reach full size.

Why wouldn't they be? You won't see any new animals untill next year. The ones you see for sale are from the first and only shipment that came in this year. They'll be bigger now, the market isn't flooded, so the prices will reflect that. The only thing that'll come out of Peru right now are Bugs, some Snakes, and maybe some Tortoises. I just talked to someone bringing in a Peruvian shipment next week, and it's pretty boring stuff........

They supposedly love crayfish too, which are much easier to find.
